Tremendous Tracey

The type of leaders that I hang with are courageous. They have a keen sense of discernment, a compulsion to speak the truth professionally, and a sense of service over self. So why do these brave point people get vilified, sniped at, or even railroaded out of the very entity they are trying to help?

To be reasonable, you must be able to reason. Our ability to reason is what makes humans humane. And when we abdicate our frontal lobe cortex’s responsibility to interact as adults with others, we devolve into our reptilian brains. And nothing good happens in the Jurassic Park parts of our perceptions.

Each of us is instilled within a desire to love and be loved; that is the reason we look forward with hope to tomorrow. There is no other reason we exist than to express love and receive love. This truth is also why some walk around dead long before they are buried. When this cornerstone is not there, our foundation crumbles and we crash. Sometimes, it is a fire that is extinguished; other times, we burn to the ground.

Which brings me to the question I have heard more in the past two years than in all my years combined: Where are the tremendous leaders? Our nation is in crisis, our health is under attack, and our Constitution is being shredded. Our global economy is sinking, and all because of poor leadership rooted in the need for power.

This Halloween, make sure you avoid the rotten apples that ruin the candy haul. You want treats, not tricksters, so be on the lookout for these three spoilers. These three scary monsters aren't so evil when you deal with them at the earliest opportunity. If you wait too long, you may have created your own organizational horror story.

This past week was a poignant one for me because I celebrated the second anniversary of my mother's homegoing on October 14^th and the thirteen-year homegoing of my father on October 16^th.
