It's Not Rude to Be Shrewd

My father, the late, great, book evangelist Charlie "Tremendous" Jones declared the more books he gave away, the richer he became. It seems like quite the paradox in today's cutthroat world of take or be taken. Was my father a sucker? Absolutely not. He was embodied by a great word we tend to look upon with disdain; he was shrewd... read more

Excited or Entrenched

The landscape of our lives is constantly changing which wreaks a great deal of havoc on humans who would often rather die than change. We lose relationships and our health, we miss once in a lifetime and repeated opportunities, yet we continue to blame everyone but ourselves.

Don’t Go Excommunicado on Life

This weekend I treated myself to John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum. The movie did not disappoint, and I would highly recommend it. I love action flicks, especially when justice is meted out to bad guys who hurt good dogs! The movie centers on the fact that John Wick broke one of the assassin world’s rules and must now pay the price— along with anyone who aids or aided him. A recurring line used by various characters throughout the film is, "Every action has consequences." More valid words were never spoken, assassin, or not.

The Great Realization

The Great Realization

Tracey Jones
Throughout my leadership journey, I’ve heard one constant refrain--people are your greatest asset because they have within them the mind, heart, and spirit to do great things. Having worked with thousands of individuals over the past forty years of my professional life, I used to think, “well, that depends on which people you're talking about." Which brings us to the genuine question, is there an innate great encoded in every single human being? Do we have the seeds of success embedded into our DNA waiting patiently for the trigger that causes them to begin manifesting? I used to think the answer was ‘no,' but now I see it is ‘yes.'

The Most Important Thing in 2018

“The common denominator of success—the secret of success of every person who has ever been successful—lies in the fact that he or she formed the habit of doing things that failures don't like to do. It's just as true as it sounds and it's just as simple as it seems.”

I Get How the Universe Works

I Get How the Universe Works

Be intentional in your words and deeds this week. Watch what you allow into your head and space and seek out those things that are true, and right, and kind. Be unattached to the future. We'll do the possible, but let God do the impossible. Soon you’ll come to the full realization that if someone or something doesn’t manifest in the way you’d hoped it does not detract from your glorious future in any way, shape, or form. Lastly, find ways this week to pour into others, whether in word, or deed, a phone call, or a visit. Your action could be the singular reason someone decides that life is worth living. Don’t let that opportunity to bless and be blessed pass you by.
Waiting for Chewbacca

Waiting for Chewbacca

Life is tremendous, it really is. It’s even more tremendous when you find your Chewbacca. But here’s the thing; you don’t find your Chewbacca; your Chewbacca finds you. Maybe a wonderful Wookiee will come into your life for a season, maybe for a lifetime; but you’ll know it when it happens. We are all coded to be relational, from an evolutionary as well as a spiritual standpoint. None of us can fly the Millennium Falcon of our lives alone.

Thank You Notes: A Letter to My Mentors

Tracey Jones
Thankfulness is the most reliable indicator of maturity. The older I get, the more people I realize I need to give thanks for because, without them, I wouldn't be who I am today. Heck, I’m even able to give thanks for the bad ones too! There are four strings of words that have profoundly impacted my life. Some were meant to encourage, others to correct. But in each instance, I can still hear the same dialogue as if it was happening now. In each case, it was only a single sentence, but its brevity did not diminish its power.
